Reducing energy consumption of processors used in mobile devices serve two purposes: to increase battery life and reduce noise from the standard cooling system. The Intel platform Cedar Trail this year, will allow at least half of the new netbooks to get rid of fans in the cooling system.
To achieve this goal, a set of components for netbooks with 10.2-inch screen, which fits into the TDP not more than 5 watts and eliminates the need for active cooling of the processor. For larger screen (11.6 and 12.1) prepared kits with TDP level not more than 8 watts, they still require the use of active cooling system. The processor in the netbook will not be dual core, it will coexist with 2 GB DDR3 memory , HDD or SSD. As an option, some notebooks will be equipped with 3G-modem.
Getting rid of fan will create not only quiet and cheaper netbooks, but also protect them from dust and moisture.
