The Full review version is available here : Intel Pentium E2140 vs A64 X2 3800+ vs X6800 : Review , Benchmark and Overclocking
We already published the review of the overclocked to 3.0 GHz frequency dual core processor Pentium e2160 (1.8 GHz). Later we was able to overclock the Pentium e2160 to 3.6 GHz frequency ;
In this test was used the standard motherboard on base of chipset nForce 680i LT SLI.
Let us recall that the processors Pentium e2160 (1.8 GHz) and Pentium e2140 (1.6 GHz) will be released in 3 June, their price will be equal to $84 and $74 respectively. Both processors are dual core, have 1 mb cache in the second level and support 800 MHz system bus. The existing models are based on core allendale stepping L2.
Maximum overclock for this model was 3374 MHz. Good for inexpensive processor with core architecture .
However, test was conducted at 3150 MHz frequency paired with video card geForce 7900 GS. As reference was used the processor core 2 Extreme x6800 (2.93 GHz).
As you can be convinced, overclock by 75% increases the processor speed by 40%. In this case the deference between high end dual core processor and budget Pentium is somewhere near 20-30%,with identical frequencies. Related Products :
