Micron Technology announced the availability of mass world's first 45nm non-volatile memory technology based on Phase Change Memory (PCM).  The cell is similar to writing a rewritable optical disc, when a substance- changes its state from the amorphous to crystalline and vice versa.  Compared to NAND-flash memory, the memory with variable phase state does not require the erase operation, which speeds up its work up to the speeds of DRAM-memory,   greater durability, withstanding up to one million write cycles. Until now, the writing density of PCM-RAM was not enough to produce high-capacity chips - larger than a few hundred megabits.  This, for obvious reasons, restricted area of PCM systems, industrial and automotive purposes.The developer has packed 1-Gbit chip PCM with a 512-Mbit memory chip LPDDR2 and combined both types of shared memory interface.  The result was a true hybrid memory , Mobile devices with similar memory system may be loaded fast, and extremely quickly respond to the operations associated with data recording . Yesterday, we noted a growing interest in smartphones and tablet manufacturers to obsolete Flash NOR-type.  Like PCM memory  , NOR-type quickly responds to read and write commands.    Micron company has confirmed that its new chips have passed the tests qualification Intel development platforms for smartphones.  Also Micron expects that the combined data chips will choose other market players.
