Elpida company plans to reduce its memory chips release at its factory in Hiroshima, and Rexchip subsidiary in Taiwa. This step will reduce by 10% worldwide delivery of DRAM chip , which, in turn, positively affect the situation of over-production of this type and healthier industry.
According to associate, the factory in Hiroshima will produce 80,000 wafers per month, instead of 120,000. At the same time up to 70,000 wafers will be used for the production of memory chips for mobile devices on Apple orders . Thus, it may mean that Elpida completely turns off production of DRAM Memory standard .
Parent Rexchip company cut production by about 30% - from 80 thousand to 50-60 thousand plates. Elpida itself does not comment on the situation, observing the silent period provided as part of the deal with Micron.
