Scientists from Michigan managed to create a new type of display that with minimal energy consumption is able to transmit a bright and clear image, and is perfect, for example, for e-books.
The researchers found that in contact with the grooves of a certain size is a reflection of a certain color: blue (grooves 170x40 nm), red (the groove width of 60 nm) and yellow (the groove width of 90 nm). The result is a color model CMY (cyan, magenta, yellow), which form a color image, selecting the right size . A team of scientists led by Professor Jay Guo (Jay Guo) achieved a similar effect by reproducing the structure of its surface on the silvered glass.
Obviously, this development so far is only suitable for static images, but scientists claim that in a short time the display based on this design will be able to display animation.
