POSTER:computer news || CELERON 4XX COMPATIBILITY WITH OLD MAINBOARDS
DATE:2007-06-17
After the official announcement of Intel processors Pentium e2xxx and Celeron 4xx , we revealed strange reference about the correspondence of celeron processors on core Conroe- L to FMB 05B requirements . This mean that some time ago the given processors were capable to work in motherboard, whose power system was not updated under conroe generation processors .
As explained to us Intel representatives , the processors core 2 Duo and Celeron 4xx have the identical voltage table. So , for compatibility with Celeron 4xx , the mainboard must have an adapted bios and correspond to VRM 11 requirements . Accordingly, in old motherboards, which do not support Conroe due to power system limitations , the processors celeron 4xx will not work .
If we check the update history Of celeron model , it is possible to reveal that 65 nm processors celeron D required from mainboard correspondence to the requirements VRM 10, which ensured compatibility with cedarMill processors .
Now budget processors celeron require , new power system , the same as in high end processors. In any case their is numerous inexpensive products on base of old chipsets, which have the adapted power system .
