This year, Intel plans to seriously address the promotion of its own technology wireless video transmission, called Wireless Display (WiDi) . Processor giant even enlisted the support of LG, Samsung and Toshiba companies, and in the future may become WiDi standard for laptops and LCD TVs. Intel also expects that the scope of WiDi gradually expand to other devices such as tablets and computers class, all-in-one.
The actual standard for today WiDi 3.5 allows the transfer of video resolutions up to 1080p, 3d content and 5.1-channel surround sound, and wireless devices with USB. Technology is compatible with the alternative standard wireless multimedia signal Miracast, which is engaged in the promotion of Wi-Fi Alliance.
Most laptop manufacturers will implement support of WiDi in mobile PC based on Haswell, whose will appear in June.
