The earthquake, which occurred on Wednesday, evacuated staff of two TSMC factories. According to TSMC, the functioning of the earthquake will not affect factories, and all employees have returned to their jobs.
The magnitude of earthquake measured 6.1 (3.6 magnitude on the U.S. Geological Survey estimates). Taiwanese experts have determined that the epicenter was located in the central part of the island at a depth of about 15 kilometers.
Earthquake is common in Tyvane as the island lies on a seismically active area in the Pacific Ocean. In March 2010, for example, TSMC has lost 40,000 200-mm silicon wafers caused by an earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale.
