ASUS made a prototype motherboard with interface support SATA-Express. Last feature is the ability to transfer data via two PCI Express lanes at speeds up to 16 Gbit / s. Structurally connector SATA-Express is a combination of two 7-pin SATA 6 Gb / s and one additional 4-pin port (for two PCI Express lanes requires 18 pins).
Motherboard - Z87-Deluxe/SATA-Express - is based on Z87-Deluxe and different only with support of SATA-Express, and the availability of appropriate connectors.
Using SSD ASUS ROG RAIDR Express ,according to measurements made in benchmark ATTO, read and write speed data using SATA-Express can reach 750 MB / s.
Note that the expected rate of read and write consecutive data blocks for storage SATA-Express is 900 MB / s. A new generation of LSI-SandForce controllers, for example, will be able to provide double the bandwidth by using four lines of PCI Express, however, such solutions are aimed at enthusiasts and businesses while SATA-Express should get a mass distribution.
