Samsung has not only been convicted of intent to begin deliveries of GDDR5 memory chips in an 8-gigabit version, but Micron company admitted the presence of such plans. That did not stop the Korean manufacturer with the official virtual rostrum to declare today the start of mass production of 8-gigabit chips GDDR5 - as expected in such cases, the first in the world.
Samsung does not hesitate to explain that such a memory capacity is designed for use in video cards for desktops and notebooks, accelerators, computing and gaming consoles. A graphics card with 2GB of GDDR5 memory can use only two chips. By the way, in the notebook segment it is important. Samsung memory offered in this series, as previously reported, is capable of operating at frequencies up to 8 GHz QDR inclusive. Now we can expect a new video card with 8 GB of memory and new versions of
video game consoles with an optimized layout of memory chips.
