The fourth in the world's largest contract manufacturer of semiconductors - the Chinese company SMIC - informed about the imminent expansion of the customer base at 28-nm solutions. A month ago it became known that the first 28-nanometer chip company SMIC began shipping company Qualcomm. In the future, it will join the company Broadcom and HiSilicon (division of Huawei).
At the same time, we note that Qualcomm's powers to issue junior SMIC made SoC and modems. For this purpose it used the most efficient 28 nm process technology PolySiON. 28 nm process technology using HKMG-material passes the last fine-tuning will be made available for the production of solutions Broadcom and HiSilicon. The company also expects that the local companies willing to take advantage of the new process technology for the semiconductor industry in the interests of the Chinese electronics market.
In addition, SMIC management reported that the partner companies to develop 14-nm FinFET process technology will be the center of the Belgian Imec.
