Production and sales of custom and embedded solutions bring AMD's third-quarter revenue 60%, with its absolute value increased by 13% in the sequential comparison due to the seasonal increase in demand for gaming consoles.
Guide AMD reports that gaming consoles Microsoft and Sony, which the company supplies its "custom" graphics solutions continue to enjoy stable demand. AMD has long promised to begin delivery of two more customized solutions, one of which may relate to a segment of gaming devices. At the last conference, Lisa SU recalled that the proceeds from the new orders will start during the second half of 2016. However, a significant impact on the revenue source will start only in 2017. AMD did not clarify who would be its new customers - a third-party sources suggest that it will be Nintendo with its new gaming device, and custom server solution may require large consumers cloud systems.
In the current quarter, AMD promises to introduce a system on a chip with a high degree of integration (SoC) Series R, which will be used in embedded solutions, and medical technology. It will provide a significant performance boost in terms of watt when compared to the previous generation.
