Flash technology can disappear within two years. This opinion was expressed by the Encoding.com resource in report. According to Encoding.com, in 2015 only 6% of web video is displayed using Flash (on mobile devices and Internet). This is 3.5 times less than in 2014 (21%). Such dynamics suggest that after a few years Flash technology will go down in history.
Currently popular technology for video playback - , H.264 (72% video), WebM (13%) and H.265 (HEVC) (6%). The first standard, oddly enough, there are already 13 years old but not yet losing ground.
For the other two, they have a sort of parity here: WebM does not require licensing fees, but provides lower quality. H.265 provides a better picture, but get higher load on the processor and is paid. The latter is obviously not suitable for encoding high definition video due to the load on the CPU.
