Charging stations and vehicles, are using a variety of connectors, the type of which depends on the geography of operation and brand electric vehicle. The producers are trying to provide the possibility of a fast charge constant current, and easier with the infrastructure point of view, but a long charging with alternating current. In the latter case, the electric car is easier to charge from a household power socket.
Volvo company, which is soon going to expand the range of offered rechargeable hybrid cars, has taken the initiative of unification of standards for charging - Charging Interface Initiative. It involves the unification of connectors used to charge the traction batteries of electric vehicles and rechargeable hybrids. Combined Charged System - another part of the initiative, it means the union in a single device sources fast charging with direct current (power from 200 to 350 kW) and a standard AC charging. Of course, now the problem is exacerbated not only by the presence of several charging standards, but also by the existence of charging stations network for various types - in Europe and the US the number is already measured in the thousands, and to alter the existing infrastructure under the new standards will not be easy. Nevertheless, it is an inevitable stage in the evolution of the ecosystem. Related Products :
