Some members of the European Parliament are already preoccupied by the consequences of the next industrial revolution, and offered to charge the owners of industrial robots and other automation equipment tax, which would contribute to a more simple adaptation of social workers being replaced by them. For example, the collected funds could be spent on retraining of people whose jobs will take robots. This initiative was not supported in the European Parliament, and a vote was held with the following results: 396 "against" 123 people "for", 85 people abstained.
These events have caused joy in the robotics manufacturers, because they believe that the introduction of additional taxes will brake on technical progress. Demand for industrial and service robots is growing at a solid pace, and market participants are convinced that their implementation does not only create new jobs, but also increases productivity. The authors of the initiative are disappointed with the results of voting.
