Foxconn in its quest to acquire Toshiba assets related to the production of solid-state memory. The site DigiTimes reports of interest in acquiring the company TSMC Toshiba respective assets, pointing to gain access to 3D NAND-type memory release technology as the main attracting factor.
TSMC will try to persuade Toshiba to launch 3D NAND production in Taiwan, which would not only increase the volume of the issue, but also to reduce costs. Firstly, the company is not involved in the type of memory 3D NAND release that takes questions from the antitrust authorities. Secondly, TSMC will not use public funds to purchase Toshiba assets. Taiwanese contract manufacturer, in the end, will help Japanese companies to expand production capacity.
