Some time ago, Tesla ceased to offer more affordable versions of Model S electric vehicles with a software limited up to 60 kWh of traction battery capacity, and this step was taken as one of the signs of preparations for entering the Tesla Model 3 market. Now, according to the Electrek resource , Tesla is preparing to further optimize the options available when ordering the Model S and Model X.
First of all, this Thursday it will not be possible to order variants of electric vehicles of the above models with a traction battery of 90 kWh capacity. Now you can only choose between 75 kWh and 100 kWh. Fortunately, the most capacious battery has recently been available for simpler bundles, not just the fastest and most expensive ones.
Secondly, to the upcoming announcement of Tesla Model 3, the design of the online configurator has been updated, which allows selecting the Tesla Model S and Tesla Model X. The options are now grouped into conditional packages, although those who wish can also form individual sets. Most likely, the enlargement of options packages is an inevitable step on the way to increasing the volume of electric vehicles, which is conditioned by the preparation for mass production of Tesla Model 3.
