The site WCCFTech made a selection of the first tests of AMD EPYC 7601 processors in SiSoft Sandra and Cinebench benchmarks, and also compared the performance of AMD's flagship 32-core solution with Intel's 28-core server flagship (Platinum 8180). The testing was carried out both in a single-processor configuration, and in a dual-processor configuration on the SuperMicro H11DSU-iN motherboard. The result obtained can not be considered true in the first instance, but it helps to assess the capabilities of AMD's server innovations against Intel's proposals.
So, two processors AMD EPYC 7601 (in the sum of 64 cores, 128 streams, frequency 2.7 GHz with base 2.2 GHz) in SiSoft Sandra showed a peak performance of 1242 gigaflops. The "media" performance of the pair reached the level of 1348 megapixels / s, and the multicore efficiency - 236 GB / s. As you can see, the new internal bus of AMD turned out to be very high and at this stage is in fact not inferior to the new cellular Intel bus .
The Intel Platinum 8180 processor with 28 cores and 56 streams at 3.4 GHz in a dual-processor configuration on the SuperMicro X11DAi-N SMC and TYAN S7106 cards in SiSoft Sandra issued 1345.76 gigaflops (in the sum of 56 cores, 112 streams). This indicator is now the largest of the publicly available in the database SiSoft Sandra. But AMD processors, as we see, lagged behind the rival slightly, working at a lower frequency and consuming up to 180 W, although Intel's competing solutions consume up to 205 watts.
What solutions AMD has significantly lost to Intel processors, so it's in "media" performance. Processors Intel Platinum 8180 on this item showed a performance at 4855 Mpixels / s, significantly ahead of competitors. Perhaps, lack of optimization of AMD EPYC processors affected. The multi-core efficiency of the Intel Platinum 8180 based on the benchmark is 237 GB / s - in fact it is the same as that of the AMD EPYC 7601.
The data of the CInebench R15 benchmark was found on the German site Heise.de. It is claimed that the AMD EPYC 7601 processor scored 6879 points, and the Intel Platinum 8180 processor - 8301 points.
