Elpida memory ( Japanese company ) declared about the readiness of first memory microcircuits DDR2 SDRAM 512 Mbit with 32-bit input-output configuration . The delivery of such models will begin in the present month.
Earlier, DDR2 controller with the 32-bit interface required two memory instruments with 16- bits circuits input-output. The new elpida product ensures the following advantages (one chip 512 Mbit in comparison with two 256 Mbit):
- Approximately up to 25% area decreases , occupied by memory on the printed-circuit board;
- The quantity of spherical leads, necessary for microcircuits installation , decreases by 40 pieces;
- The energy consumption is reduced by 20%;
- The electromagnetic disturbances level is reduced and the quality of signals is improved.
This new memory is designed for supply voltage 1,8 v. and it is released according to 70 nm standards , they ensure the transmission speed from 250 to 1066 Mbit/s .
The beginning of mass microcircuits production is planned on September.
