This week we reported about AMD new processor, potentially suitable for use in popular notebook Asus Eee PC. AMD really intends to submit by the end of year a special processor for budget computers that could compete with Intel Atom and VIA Nano. Products based on this AMD processor will come in the first half of 2009.
As we have reported that this processor can support 64 - bit extensions and equipped with embedded memory controller. The disadvantages include the relatively high TDP level (8 W), but the processor is already incorporated in the form of chipset memory controller, so competing platforms may not always be better in terms of cost.
AMD is going to produce this processor on 65 nm technology, although to the end of 2008 already will begin the transfer of senior generation Phenom processors on 45 nm technology. It is expected that the new AMD processor for notebooks will cost slightly less than Intel Atom. Now there are some negotiations with Acer, MSI, HP and some Chinese manufacturers about the production of budget notebook PCs based on this AMD processor . Related Products :
