Plextor M8Se is another example of Plextor tradition: show a novelty, then for a long time carry it on exhibitions and in every way tease its fans. The first loud mention of the family Plextor M8Se SSD-drives is demonstration of samples on Computex 2016 in June 2016. Then a promise to release soon in the frame of Plextor M8P release in August 2016. After - one more show on CES2017 in January 2017 . And only now the Plextor M8Se drives got the status of an officially released product.
The hardware platform of the novelty did not hide initially: Marvell controller 88SS1093 and 15-nm planar TLC NAND, manufactured by Toshiba. The range of options is extremely large: M8Se-Y (PCIe expansion card, which is a PCIe x4 >> M.2 adapter with installed drive and heat sink), M8Se-G (M.2 size 2280 with radiator) and M8Se-GN (M. 2 sizes 2280 without a radiator) will be offered in volumes of 128, 256, 512 GB and 1 TB. Plextor does not elaborate on the performance
of each version , but simply states up to 2450 MB / s and 210 thousand IOPS on reading and up to 1000 MB / s and 175 thousand IOPS on the record.
