By the beginning of the next decade, the "visionary entrepreneur" Ilon Mask promises to build an interface for the transmission of information from the human brain to the computer by the company Neuralink founded by him. At this stage it is expected that without implantation of electrodes and chips in the brain, it will not be possible to manage, but if a healthy person such a prospect may seem eerie, then people affected by injuries and diseases of the brain will have the opportunity to improve the quality of life.
As Bloomberg notes referring to the official applications of Neuralink to the US authorities, the company has already managed to raise $ 27 million from the $ 100 million that it plans to use to finance core developments. Mask refused to comment on who invested money in this project, but added on his page on Twitter that Neuralink does not attract funds from outside investors. Apparently, those 12 investors, which are mentioned in the documents, are considered "internal".
Neuralink continues to hire staff, and the availability of competencies in the field of medicine is not a mandatory requirement for candidates: talent and motivation mean much more for the employer. Among the priorities for the distribution of the working time of the Mask itself is the Neuralink project: the billionaire pays him 3% to 5% of the time, while space company SpaceX and electric Tesla demand up to 90% of the time. Two per cent goes to underground transport projects and artificial intelligence technologies.
