Situation with the 55 nm video chip GT206, which is called to replace the GT200 in the graphic card GeForce GTX 260, was ambiguous. From one side, we already saw the video chips models separately from printed-circuit board (PCB). From the other side, November approaches to its middle, but the promised announcement of GT206 did not take place.
As reports associate, the new revision GT206 chip announcement was delayed as the minimum to February in the following year. The reasons : the mass production of video card does not befit from the current revision chip. Associate also reports that two-chip product on base of GT206 will not be released. In the first and second quarters 2009 NVIDIA will release the first 40 nm video chip, which play in the same price category. According to our associate, the existing chip revision had some problems with the frequency potential. According to some data, the company plans to increase the shader frequencies by not less than 20%. | ||
