The second generation phenom X4 produced on 45 nm technologies clearly exceeds the first from the overclocking potential side.
However, the current generation phenom X4, made on 65 nm technical process, still has some potential . In this case the processor Phenom X4 9950 Black edition with the unlocked multiplier was used. This last was coupled with the motherboard DFI lanParty DK 790FXB-M2RSH, on base of AMD 790 FX chipset and A-DATA extreme edition DDR 2-1200 memory. As cooling come the liquid nitrogen, processor cooling up to -50 . This is especially strange, since this processor family have the so-called cold bug, which does not allow to use sub zero cooling on those processors . Anyway the phenom X4 9950 Black edition was overclocked to 4.1 GHz.   It is worthwhile to note that the frequency potential of new phenom II X4 processors (45nm) will be the only weapon against the competing Intel products up to 2010, when for k10 change will appear the new micro-architecture with the code name bulldozer.
