After the appearance of Pentium E6500K processor, we can now check their overclocking potential. This dual core 45 nm processor with default frequency 2.93 GHz and the free multiplier, according to official information (china), will be sold on the local market for the next six months. The free multiplier allows overclockers to select the combination of bus frequency and multiplier optimum for specific conditions. Maximum overclock attained by our associates after increase in the multiplier to 17x, and bus- to 271 MHz: the resulting frequency was 4608 MHz. On the bus, it was possible to overclock the processor to 455 MHz. Obviously, the absence of serious cooling prevented reaching a higher total frequency. In a word, this processor is interesting both for the amateurs of extreme acceleration and for economical owners of modest air cooler. | ||
