The race of megahertz, which for a period of many years remained for Intel the main method of increasing the processors productivity , it replaced for the tendency of an increase in the number of core and architecture optimization  . The problem here that only a part of popular applications is capable to effectively use the resources of existing multi core processors.  Intel already has 8 core processors, and AMD company intends to present soon  opteron processors with twelve cores. Intel company periodically buys companies, which develop applications for multi core systems. In the last month , Intel made two acquisitions. The companies cilk and Rapidmind, which has in their state not more than 50 people each, recently passed under Intel control . Related Products :
