Epox AM 2 RD580 board
OVERCLOCKER'S enthusiast sweetheart, Epox has decided to go for the rather successful RD580 chipset from ATI. It will use it for its new socket AM2 boards. The company was Nvidia chipset supporter only, but I guess its customers wanted to get their hands on ATI-based boards.
The board is branded as EP-MD580 XR-J and it is an ATX board. It is powered with RD580 Northbridge and SB600 Southbridge. It supports socket AM2 CPUs. This confirms out story where we said that RD580 can support socket AM2.
The board supports four DDR 2 memory sockets capable of handling Dual DDR2 800 memory. The board will support Crossfire, SATA II, eight channel HD audio and Gigabit LAN. You will get even more S-ATA ports from JM363 controller.
The board also supports ghost bios feature. It is scheduled for late June but we are sure that there should be some prototypes by the Computex time
