Yesterday as we already reported that new chipset Intel P965 will get a modernization in the nearest time - stepping C2 of this chipset will start to be supplied on 9 September of the current year. Simultaneously to new stepping will be transferred to chipset i946GZ and i946PL,

Associates with the reference to our own sources reported that current stepping C1 of chipset Intel P965 can had some limitations on the compatability with the separate modules of memory. In particular, it demonstrated the non acceptance of memory modules Ddr2-800 from Ada and Kingston production . It is known that the problem can be solved by a bios update .

Honestly speaking, from our opinion , similar problems has some motherboards or several models. chipset Intel P965 realized the support of Ddr2-800, without waiting until approval from JEDEC, but hardly norther bridge will demonstrate "probleme" to the memory modules of some concrete producers.

However, a good news consists in other. Associates report that stepping C2 of chipset Intel P965 had an increased the productivity of memory in the asynchronous regime. "asynchronous regime = when the frequency of system bus is differed from the frequency of the memory ".

By the way, stepping C1 of chipset P965 was successfully capable to overclock Conroe processors . The main thing - is to select a motherboard with the possibility of change the northern bridge vltageo and good cooling of this chip.
