Recent review from American associates allowed us to understood that CrossFire technology using chipset Intel P965 loses 9% in speed because of the special feature ,system logic work collection with video cards. More precisely saying, because of different exchange method " from i975X " of the data between video card established into different slots.
For sure many SLI supporters as their self this question, is this big influence factor on the operating system speed ? Until now SLI technology is not officially supported by Intel chipset; therefore all test in this sphere was necessarily recognized as unofficial. Nevertheless, some peformance results already exist.
For comparison was assembled two systems with similar configuration. One was based on the motherboard Intel D975XBX revision 304 (chipset i975X), another was based on the motherboard Asus P5B Deluxe (chipset Intel P965). In both cases was used a pair of video card GeForce 7950 gt, overclocked to the frequencies of 640/1560 MHz in regime SLI, and here processors used were different. Chipset i975X overclocked the model Core 2 Extreme X6800 of stepping B1 to the frequency of 3.9 GHz (10 X of 390 MHz). Chipset P965 overclocked the model of processor Core 2 duo E6600 to the frequency of 3.9 GHz (9 X of 434 MHz). Of course in both systems were used the modified drivers ForceWare.
In test 3DMark06 the system on the base of chipset i975X collect 10 943 "marks".
System on the base of chipset P965 collect 8 919 "mark"in 3DMark06. Thus, with the close conditions chipset i975X in the data showin by tests prove to be 23% faster than chipset P965. This could justify this price difference between motherboads. Related Products :
