On IDF 2010, Intel representatives called already the introduction periods Of light peak in series products - not earlier than 2012. All demonstrated devices with light peak support used the appropriate controller of Intel production.
It is expected that in 2012 Intel will also inject USB 3.0 support at the chipset level. According to Intel representatives, the interfaces USB 3.0 and Light peak can coexist in one system, supplementing each other. Prior to the end of this year texas instruments company plans to release its USB 3.0 controller to four ports . The existing NEC controllers support only two ports USB 3.0; therefore motherboards producers can realize the support of four ports USB 3.0, after purchasing only one controller from texas instruments production.
