Yesterday we reported about the future of server processor opteron witch becaume the four core barselona. we can describe now desktop CPU family (K8L).
Thus, The high end desktop processors will become the four core Agena, analog to the server cpu barcelona. Its first models will released out with a operating frequency in the range of 2,4-2,6 GHz. As it was communicated earlier, Agena will include 2 mb cache in the second level (512 KB on each core) and general is 2 mb cache in the third level. TDP of this processor is 125 W.
The dual core kuma, oriented for the mass market, starts with frequencies 2,0-2,9 GHz. L2 cache of this CPU will have capacity equal to 1 mb. while L 3- cache has 2 mb. Kuma will be released in versions with TDP 65 W and 89 W, and only lately will appear the model energy efficient (35 W).
Finally, Rana, the successor Of sempron, will be first released with frequencies from 2,1 GHz to 2,3 GHz. The cache in the third level is not provided generally, but L2 cache will have the capacity of 1 mb. The energy consumption of this device falls in the category 65 W, and it will be released simultaneouly with 35- W kuma (in the fourth quarter of 2007).
As it was communicated earlier, all these CPU were intended for the work with AM2+ motherboard . amd for AM2 motherboard owner will be necessary to update the BIOS . we should note that the performance of this system will be considerably lower than valuable AM2+ from the side Of hyperTransport 1.0.
AMD agena FX as before is present in the company plans . Only difference of this processor from Agena is the interface socket 1207.
