The new MacBook Air Apple notebooks use a simplified version of Thunderbolt port controller , known as Eagle Ridge, instead of LightRidge chip, which is found in less compact 2011 model Mac - iMac, MacBook Pro and Mac mini.
Light Ridge use four channels Thunderbolt (4 bidirectional channels of 10 Gbit / s - total capacity of 80 Gb / s), as well as two connections DisplayPort. Eagle Ridge is available in two versions - regular and reduced-(SFF, small form-factor) - and, in turn, allows up to two channels of Thunderbolt and a DisplayPort. Related Products :
