Elpida company announced the creation of DRAM memory chips such as LPDDR3 for mobile devices with 4 Gbps density , and the chip produced on 30 nm process technology. Memory chips are made on FBGA and operate at 1.2 volts.
Data transmission rate per contact is equal to 1600 Mbit / s total bandwidth 6.4 GB / s, which is two times greater than LPDDR2 possibility. Thus, when operating at comparable speeds, LPDDR3 consumes about 25% less energy compared to previous-generation chips. It is expected that mobile devices will be used for two chips LPDDR3, thus, the total capacity of memory will reach 12.8 GB / sec.
The first samples of chips will be released later this year. Mass production, depending on the interest from manufacturers of portable electronics. The first devices that use this memory, will appear only in the beginning of 2013. Related Products :
