Samsung has announced the start of mass production of memory chips LPDDR3 density 4Gb using lithographic technology 20-nm class. The new memory for high-speed characteristics are more than twice the chip LPDDR2 - the data rate is 2133 megabits per second (800 Mbit / s in LPDDR2). This offers the advantage of Samsung to use, in particular, to play videos in high definition on mobile devices.
By switching to the new technology Samsung has a 30% increase in performance and a 20% reduction in power consumption of LPDDR3 chips in comparison with the memory of a similar standard, manufactured using 30-nanometer class. Samsung will merge four chips in the body thickness of only 0.8 mm, yielding memory capacity of 2 GB RAM.
This year, Samsung plans to increase production of memory chips at 20-nm technology class to strengthen its position in the DRAM market . According to analysts, the capacity of the market in 2013 will reach $ 29.6 billion, about $ 10 billion (35%) will come from products for mobile devices.
