Solid state drives, enterprise-class used PCI Express bus as interface, which provides plenty of bandwidth.
OCZ Technology company announced that they were able to develop together with Marvell the controller 88NV9145 (Kilimanjaro), which allows direct interaction of solid-state NAND flash memory and interface PCI Express. Each controller supports a single channel PCI Express x1 generation 2.0 and up to four channels NAND, each has four memory chips. If we use memory chips 8GB, each controller is capable of handling up to 128 GB solid state memory. Speed of reading arbitrary data block size of 4 KB is equal to 93 000 operations per second write speed - 70 000 operations per second.
The first product on the platform Kilimanjaro will be the drive OCZ Z-Drive 5, which will be configured in accordance with the wishes of customer. It can use memory type MLC, eMLC SLC or the total volume of up to 12 terabytes. Architecture supports VCA 3.0, protection against data loss in case of failures in the power supply.
OCZ and Marvell are going to show examples of Z-Drive 5 at CES 2012, which will begin next week. Related Products :
