Intel desire , to release faster processors models with four core is explained by the fear of competition from AMD processors generation k10 (Barcelona and Agena/agena FX). The Problem here is with four core processor witch possess sufficiently high heat emission. This limits the possibilities to growth in frequencies with the existing stepping B3 core kentsfield. As reports this official document (35 KB) from Intel site , in the second-half of July the company will start the delivery of four core processors core 2 Quad q6600 (2.4 GHz), Xeon x3220 (2.4 GHz) and Xeon x3210 (2.13 GHz), based on new stepping G0 core kentsfield. We note that : there is no change in the technical process ,  desktop 45 nm processors yorkfield will appear not earlier than the end of 2007 or beginnings of 2008. Producer attempts to reduce the TDP level from 105 to 95 W for models with frequency up to 2.4 GHz with Transfer on new stepping G0. Present Core 2 Quad q6600 (2.4 GHz) stepping B3 has TDP level not more than 105 W, and processors family core 2 Extreme qX6xxx have TDP not more than 130 W. It is necessary to assume that during July they will be transferred on more cold stepping. The processors stepping G0 will replace value CPUID from 06F7h to 06FBh, and the maximum case temperature  from 62,2 degree Celsius to 73 degree Celsius. Core 2 Quad q6600 (2.4 GHz): SL9UM (B3) - > SLACR (G0); Xeon x3220 (2.4 GHz): SL9UP (B3) - > SLACT (G0); Xeon x3210 (2.13 GHz): SL9UQ (B3) - > SLACU (G0). The models of these processors will begin to be extended on 11 May, 2007. Users will encounter processors stepping G0 in the second-half of July . It would be desirable to hope that the overclocking potential of kentsfield processors will be improved with passage on new stepping ,  in the third quarter the cost Of core 2 Quad q6600 (2.4 GHz) will be lowered to $266, and here it will begin to interest many users.
