It was considered that r600 successor will become the 65 nm version of this video chip, which possesses the improved energy consumption .This last will be released in the third quarter this year. Actuality the successor Of r600 as many other interesting video chips, will be released on 55 nm technical process - This information was with the reference to fresh AMD road map . Progressive technical process is always good. However, the belonging of the following high end graphical solution r680 to the 55 nm technical process can enlarge the announcement periods  . This video chip will be announced in the end of 2007 , But it will appear (on market ) during January 2008. This is preliminary information only : AMD can reexamine the announcement periods . The new high end video card from NVIDIA will be also released in the fourth quarter, and if R680 still absent to this date , then in the high-end segment Nvidia will be the only player. Let us examine the diagram of the existing graphical solutions AMD on 55 nm technical process: R600 (80 nm) - > R680 (55 nm), production during January 2008; RV560/RV570 (80 nm) - > RV660/RV670 (55 nm), models during September 2007, production during January 2008; RV630 (65 nm) - > RV635 (55 nm), models during September 2007, production during January 2008; RV610 (65 nm) - > RV620 (55 nm), models during September 2007, production during January 2008. All 55 nm AMD video chip will support directX 10, crossFire, HDMI, HDCP, UVD and PCI express 2.0. Let us note that r680 support UVD , this function is available only in Radeon HD 2600 (RV630) and Radeon HD 2400 (RV610). It was considered that RV670 will bring the 256- bit memory system bus in the upper part of average price segment .
