Imagination Technologies reported on delivery of tracing accelerators Caustic Series2 R2500 and R2100 , seen at CES.  These cards are able to accelerate the applications PowerVR OpenRL, including plug-ins render Caustic Visualizer for Autodesk Maya and 3ds Max, as well as Neon for Rhinoceros 5. According to the manufacturer, Caustic Series2 - the first series of high-performance ray-tracing accelerators, made in the form of expansion cards for  PC, which uses the world's first dedicated chipset Imagination. Caustic R2500 price, oriented at high end workstations is $ 1495.  Caustic R2100 model cost $ 795 and is positioned as a solution for the middle and upper segments. The first time, complete with free Caustic Visualizer for Maya.  Separately, the software costs $ 299.  Renderer for 3ds Max will be released in the second quarter. The manufacturer has published a list of workstations that are guaranteed to be compatible . R2500 Specifications: Two processors Caustic RTU (ray-tracing unit); Memory - 16 GB; Capacity - up to 100 million rays per second; Bus - PCI Express x16 Gen 2.0; For workstations with two CPU; Power consumption - no more than 65 W; Supported OS - Windows 7 and Vista (32-bit and 64-bit versions).
