Specialists iFixit disassembled the laptop Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch Retina display and appreciated maintainability.
Dismantling the system on a quad-processor Intel Core i7, running at 2.0 GHz, which is in the configuration of 8 GB of RAM DDR3L-1600, and a 256 GB SSD, begins with the removal of the bottom cover.
In connector on the main board is inserted into a solid state drive with an interface PCIe.
Solid State Drives deliver by Samsung. The board visible chip Samsung K4P4G324EB-FGC2 (buffer RAM 512 MB), Samsung S4LNO53X01-8030 (controller SSD) and Samsung K9HFGY8S5C (eight chip flash memory to 32 GB each).
At the other end is inserted the wireless AirPort, supporting 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.
The base of the module are the chip Broadcom BCM4360, Broadcom BCM20702 and Skyworks SE5516.
That's the cooling system. The heat from the processor assigned to the two fans.
The main board contains a processor, chipset, memory DDR3 SDRAM (16 chips Elpida J4208EFBG 512 MB each), two Thunderbolt controller (Intel DSL5520) and audio codec (Cirrus 4208-CRZ).
On the reverse side of the board, in addition to chips, there is a connector for headphones.
In general, as mentioned above, MacBook Pro 15-inch Retina display got one repairability score out of ten.
This is due to the use of proprietary screws, loss of memory capacity, the use of non-standard SSD, battery mount with adhesive. Special mention was awarded to placement of the headphone jack directly to the main PCB. IFixit experts point out that the jack is relatively easy fails due to wear, even under careful operation, and in the appropriate official service center repair will require replacement of the entire board, which is not cheap at all. It is also costly for any failure on the part of the display - it is made of a non-separable, so it is replaced entirety. Moreover it has a protective glass.
