Specialists at Chipworks have carefully studied the new dual-core A8. It is already installed on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and later find its application in the updated iPad Air and iPad mini third generation.
A key feature of the A8, became the 6-cluster PowerVR graphics from Imagination Technologies Group Plc, whereas in the previous version used a 4-cluster configuration GPU. This, according to Apple, has provided 50 per cent increase in the graph compared with the chip A7.
Meanwhile, experts IHS found that the production of A8 deals not only with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and also Samsung. According to 9to5Mac, TSMC produces about 60% of the chips A8 for the needs of Apple, but the remaining 40% went to the South Korean company Samsung, with which Apple has long-standing partnerships.
