Not so long ago it became known about Apple's intentions to "offend" Qualcomm on the amount of license fees levied on the sale of each device by the first of the companies using patented second communication technologies. What exactly is dissatisfied with Apple in the current status of licensing Qualcomm technologies, the CEO of the first of the companies, Tim Cook, explained at the quarterly reporting conference.
According to him, the methodology for determining the value of license fees is not fair. Qualcomm requires you to deduct a percentage of the cost of the entire device - for example, the same iPhone. Meanwhile, the cost of a smartphone is formed not only by components that use Qualcomm technologies. The same fingerprint sensor Touch ID or device display, according to Cook, has nothing to do with Qualcomm's development. Apple generally has an "incalculable amount of innovation" for which it would not be fair to pay Qualcomm. This is the fundamental position of Apple, and Tim Cook is convinced that Qualcomm has "its own truth".
