Qualcomm has filed a complaint against the Chinese company Meizu in Beijing court for intellectual property rights. Despite the fact that the Meizu does not use single-chip platform from first, a reason for going to court was the use of Meizu Qualcomm's technologies related to communication technologies.
As reported in the official press release of Qualcomm's, Meizu company illegally uses their device technologies related to 3G communications technology (WCDMA and CDMA 2000) and 4G (LTE). In China, Qualcomm last year received a patent for this technology in the manner prescribed by law. The press release notes that Qualcomm offered Meizu terms of the patent license, which fully comply with China's law and fully justified.
Qualcomm claims that immediately after the patents it has made Meizu proposal concerning the licensing of these technologies. However, the latter has ignored this proposal and continues to use these technologies in their products. This was the reason for going to court. Qualcomm says that it is open to dialogue, and would prefer to peacefully resolve the conflict by signing the agreement on the licensing of relevant technology.
