A few weeks ago, we announced a new platform for AMD companies for productive desktop PCs or PCs for enthusiasts. The X390 platform with the AM44 processor socket (or S3, according to AMD internal documents) will receive a whole range of models of the Ryzen generation with better performance than the usual desktop solutions of this generation. Earlier we could get acquainted with the 12-core version of such a processor, and today the VideoCardz site published data on two engineering copies of 16-core processors codenamed "Whitehaven": 2D3101A8UGAF4_36 / 31_N and 1D3101A8UGAF3_36 / 31_N.
It is expected that AMD Ryzen "Whitehaven" processors will be able to challenge Intel solutions where they have long given way to rivals - among platforms for enthusiasts. In particular, it will be a competition with Intel Skylake X models with up to 12 cores. Models of AMD Ryzen "Whitehaven" processors in the same segment will be offered on 16 cores supporting 32 computing streams. Each of the AMD processors will be armed with the maximum possible in the generation of cache memory and will provide support for four channels of DDR4 memory. Let's add, the senior model in a mode of a turbo is dispersed to frequency of 3.6 GHz. The line also can have 10-core and 14-nuclear models, which, however, is not yet confirmed.
Announcement of AMD processors for the X390 platform is expected this summer. The most likely place to launch the platform may be the Computex 2017 exhibition in early June. At the same time, there are rumors that the announcement of the X390 platform can take place simultaneously with the announcement of a new server platform and 32-nuclear processors Naples, which may happen in the middle of the year.
