NVIDIA protects the SLI technology and formally forbid it support from strange producers . Since NVIDIA proposed a sufficiently fast video cards, and the most productive processors belong to Intel, enthusiast was forced to buy NVIDIA chipset motherboards with intel processors support . Such motherboards had a certain overclock potential, and at the same time they propose support to SLI and 3-Way SLI technologies. Only for skulltrail platform and some laptop computers NVIDIA made an exception , after permitting systems on base of intel chipsets to support SLI. In this case NVIDIA did not miss its benefit - those motherboards were coupled with the special chips nForce 100 or nForce 200 , presenting some optimization for the SLI regime . The first allow to send one command to immediately several video cards and the second allow video cards to exchange data . As reports associate, NVIDIA decided to not release its own chipset for the LGA 1366 platform .
