Associate already reported that NVIDIA will forego the release of chipset for LGA 1366 platform and it will allow intel x58 chipset to support SLI with the aid of nForce 200 chip. Yesterday on NVIDIA site appeared the official press release, were the company declared about SLI support for the future processors bloomfield from intel production. As it was promised, for the realization of SLI support motherboards on base of intel x58 chipset will use the nForce 200 SLI chip. Although formally this chipset supports up to four slots PCI express x16, which work in PCI express x8 regime, NVIDIA company recommends the use of not more than three video card on base of GT200 chip. This limitation is superimposed not only by the overall video card dimensions , but also by drivers . Producer promises, that in comparison with single video card increase in speed can reach 2,8 times (3 ways SLi). Let us note that the cost of intel x58 chipset will be $70, and $30 for the nForce 200 SLI chip; therefore the price of motherboards for sure will exceed $300.
