Support to SLI technology for motherboards on base of Intel X58 chipset was proposed by NVIDIA company by two methods: either using the special bridge nForce 200 or with the introduction of key identifier in the motherboard Bios , which appeared after the certification procedure . In both cases the producer has to pay additional expenditures, but in the second case they were noticeably low.
Associate reported about one interesting experiment. The motherboard gigabyte GA -EX58-Ud4 on base of Intel x58 chipset, which does not officially support SLI, was flashed with the bios from GA -EX58-UD4p, which supports this technology. In this case the test was successful and the first motherboard unlocked the SLI support.
The only nuance, which the success of this experiment, consists in the need for Bios update under DOS with the aid of diskettes .Now user has to look for motherboard with similar series and futures in order to unlock SLI in cheaper motherboards .Note unsuccessful Bios can result in dead motherboard.
