Western digital company presented the technology intelliPower for HDD series caviar green , which changes the rotation speed from 5400 to 7200 RP/min in conjunction with other energy-saving measures this allows to reduce the hard disks energy consumption level by 4-5 W.
This week Seagate company declared about the deliveries of HDD series barracuda LP, which combines low energy consumption and great capacity. This HDD series relates to the thirteenth generation hard disks barracuda and uses plates with 500 GB volume and perpendicular record technology . All HDD in this series are supplied with 32 MB buffer and SATA-300 interfaces.
One updates , which allow to reduce the energy consumption level to 50% in comparison with analogous in capacity HDD - is the reduced to 5900 RP/min rotation speed . In comparison with the competing Green HDD barracuda LP products consume up to 25% less energy, according to the producer statement. In the concrete indices, this reflected : 5,7 to 6,8 W required power under load, from 3 to 5,5 W in the quiescent conditions.
The series consists on three models with 1 Tb, 1.5 Tb and 2 Tb volume. Related Products :
