Gigabyte and Asus companies released many interesting motherboards on base of Intel p55 chipset, adding the support of SATA-600 and USB 3.0 with the use of discrete controllers Marvell and NEC. According to some data, analogous update will appear also on Intel X58 motherboards.
Associate reports that Gigabyte is assembled to equip with USB 3.0 and SATA-600 controllers the motherboard P55A-UD6. Simultaneously Gigabyte representatives shared some revelations about the special features of this motherboard. They remind that the USB 3.0 ports increase the current strength, necessary for external disk power : this will facilitate work with the external disk and optical drives, which now most frequently require additional power from the second port USB or external power unit.
Furthermore, the existing controller Marvell firmware does not allow to unite device with the SATA-600 interface in the RAID 1 array. The micro-code update, which Marvell already prepares, will correct situation. Passage from SATA-300 to SATA-600, according to the first benchmarks , brings data transmission improvement by 30%.
In a word, the new motherboard gigabyte generation on base of Intel p55 chipset will get the entire complex update. Related Products :
