Samsung company , which is important memory producer , has already integrated flash- memory in hard disks, as Seagate and Hitachi. The producers of the so-called hybrid hard disks count on technology readyDrive, utilized by operating system Windows vista for storing most frequently utilized data in the flash- memory of hard disk. A similar technology, which uses for the analogous purposes external flash- disk, was called ReadyBoost. It does not ensure a noticeable acceleration in the work of desktop computers ; however, the supporters of technology readyDrive count on the use of hybrid hdd in noteboook. The accelerated load of applications, rapid execution - these are the only advantages of the use for hybrid hdd in notebook. The presence of capacious buffer in the solid-state memory allow to less frequently the use of magnetic disk, reaching essential savings on electric power.
As reported associate, samsung company begin the delivery of hybrid hard disk series MH80 of form factor 2.5 inch with volume 80 Gb, 120 Gb and 160 Gb. These hard drive have a rotation speed of spindle 5400 rp/min and it is used with the principle of perpendicular record. The flash- memory volume of type oneNAND, utilized in these hard disks, is equal to 128 or 256 mb. This is lower volume than the used with technology readyBoost, which allow to flash disk with volume up to 2 Gb or above; however, as Samsung explain its selection is the optimum combination of speed / price.
Samsung promises, that the load time of applications and the use of low latency regime in those hard disk series MH80 allow faster work by 50% in comparison with traditional Hard drive. The savings of electric power has the value of 70-90% . This allow to in crease the off-line operation time in Notebook by approximately 30 minutes witch is already a nice boost.
Hard disks samsung series MH80 are delivered only to some notebook producers ; however, in the near future they will appear also in retail market. The prices of those new hdds are not defined. Related Products :
