Today appeared report about the overclock of video card geForce 8600 GTS with volt mod. We already reported about the overclock of video card geForce 8600 GTS to 800 MHz on core, and also about the prospects for the release of revision A3 chip g84, which will only improve its overclocking potential. Singapore associates took a standard video card GeForce 8600 GTS on base of chip g84 revision A2 to volt mods core and memory. U can learn about this volt mod here. We start from the default frequencies for geForce 8600 GTS: they are equal to 675/2000 MHz, in it are used 1.1 ns or 1.0 ns memory of type GDDR- 3. The cooling system of video chip was modified , after installing a copper radiator on the processor with powerful  fan. Without increase in voltage video card overclock to 745/2290 MHz. And here the result after the started volt mod : Voltage on core 1,5 v, Voltage on memory 2,4 v, frequency 920/2430 MHz, processor core 2 Extreme x6800 (2.4 GHz) - > 7027 points in 3DMark06; Voltage on core 1,5 v, Voltage on memory 2,4 v, frequency 949/2560 MHz, processor core 2 Extreme x6800 (2.4 GHz) - > 15 122 points in3DMark05; Voltage on core 1,7 v, Voltage on memory 2,4 v, frequency 965/2530 MHz, processor core 2 Extreme x6800 (2.4 GHz) - > 7254 points in 3DMark06; Voltage on core 1,7 v, Voltage on memory 2,4 v, the frequency 1007/2532 MHz, processor core 2 Extreme x6800 (2.4 GHz) - > 15 324 points in 3DMark05. Thus, with 1.7 volt the GeForce 8600 GTS is capable to overclock to 1 GHz on core with air cooling setup . It would be desirable to believe that the revision A3 of video chip g84 will allow to reach close results without volt mod, and video card producers will equip the series geForce 8600 GTS with effective cooling systems, which will facilitate overclocking. 	Hi i own a gainward 8600gts I would like to know if it is worth overclocking with the stock cooling. What do you think is the max voltage i can pull using the stock cooling? Regards.
